Following the recent general municipal election, Council of the Town of Lanigan held its first meeting as a Special Meeting on November 18, 2024, and here are highlights of the meeting:
- The Oath of Office was administered with each member of Council by the Chief Administrative Officer.
- Mayor and Council acknowledged receipt of the Declaration of Results for the 2024 municipal election for the Town of Lanigan.
- Mayor and Council provided direction to Administration that the Deputy Mayor appointment will be a rotation every two months starting with incumbents in alphabetic order, then newly elected in alphabetic order. Council will confirm the Deputy Mayor appointments at the November 25, 2024 regular meeting.
- The Chief Administrative Officer confirmed that the signing authority resolutions will be presented at the November 25 regular meeting. The signing authority will be any one member of Council AND the Chief Administrative Officer OR Director of Corporate Services.
- The Chief Administrative Officer reviewed Public Disclosure Statement Requirements, Council Procedure Bylaw, Council Code of Ethics Bylaw including Conflict of Interest, the Town of Lanigan Organizational Chart and The Municipalities Act Further orientation will be taking place over the next 4-6 weeks including governance training and priority setting with Dr. Gordon McIntosh November 28 and 29.
- The next regular meeting of Council will be held on November 25, 2024 in Council Chambers at the Town Office.
