As we approach the 2024 General Election, detailed information will be posted here as it becomes available. This will include an overview of the election process, candidate information, voting guidelines, important dates and deadlines, and ways you can get involved in shaping the future of our community.

 

Whereas a poll is not required pursuant to The Local Government Election Act 2015 for the office of MAYOR of the Town of Lanigan, I hereby give public notice that no voting for the said office will take place, and that the following person is elected by acclamation:

An official public notice was issued for Abandonment of Poll for the Mayor position since Tony Mycock was acclaimed as Mayor. This means there will be no election for the position of Mayor.

An official public notice was issued for Notice of Poll and Advance Poll for the election of six (6) Councillors. This means there will be an election for the Councillor positions and the following candidates have been nominated:

If you are considering running for a position on Council, either Mayor or Councillor, the Council Procedure Bylaw and Code of Ethics Bylaw are documents that you should become familiar with.

Bylaw 11/2024, being a bylaw to establish a mail-in ballot voting system for the municipal election was approved by the Council at a regular meeting on September 23, 2024. More information about this opportunity to vote in the upcoming municipal election will be provided in the very near future.
