Town council member - Mayor Tony Mycock

Tony has proudly served as the Mayor of Lanigan since 2020, following a previous four-year term as a Councillor. As Mayor, Tony’s main focus is representing the town, presiding at council meetings, and working closely with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to ensure everything runs smoothly. Outside of his mayoral duties, Tony manages day-to-day operations at Sinnett Pork Farm LTD, where he oversees a large 2,600-sow pork farm and a team of 20 staff.

Tony and his family moved to Lanigan in 1998 and quickly became active members of the community. Tony has always been passionate about healthcare and has been a strong advocate for the Lanigan hospital and clinic, especially during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. He’s committed to making Lanigan a great place to live and work, with more programs, services, and affordable housing for everyone. Tony loves the close-knit, friendly atmosphere in Lanigan, where he enjoys spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and walking his black lab, Murphy.

For Tony, what makes Lanigan unique is the strong sense of community and the people who make it feel like home. He’s a big fan of events like Celebrate Lanigan, which highlight the town’s vibrant spirit and the power of coming together. Looking ahead, Tony sees Lanigan continuing to grow, with improvements in infrastructure, housing, and recreational facilities.

A community offers you as much as you are willing to put into it. All the recreation facilities would not be here if it was not for fundraising and volunteers. Getting involved with clubs, teams or groups is how you get to know your neighbours and fellow residents.  That is what builds a strong community.

Town council member - Shanon Bay

Shanon has been a Town Councillor in Lanigan since February 2022. She’s passionate about working as a team to create a welcoming and inclusive community. Shanon also serves on the Lanigan Library Board and has been involved in several local projects, including the Lanigan & District Waterpark Committee, where she played a significant role in fundraising for the new swimming pool.

Shanon moved to Lanigan 19 years ago to raise her family in a close-knit community after living in Saskatoon and working as an educational assistant. She loves the friendly faces and the safe, supportive environment that Lanigan offers. Her favourite spot in town is the pool, a project she helped bring to life and one that she’s proud to see the community enjoy. In her free time, Shanon loves spending time with her kids and family.

For Shanon, Lanigan feels like home—a place where everyone belongs. She enjoys community events like Celebrate Lanigan, where everyone comes together to have fun and connect. Looking ahead, Shanon hopes to see Lanigan grow, offering more services, businesses, and recreational opportunities for all ages. She’s grateful for the support she’s received as she’s learned in her role as a Councillor and encourages others to step out of their comfort zones and get involved in the community.

Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Get involved as it can be the most rewarding experience.

Town council member - Kyle Boyko

Kyle has been a dedicated Town Councillor for Lanigan since 2020. His main focus is making decisions that benefit the residents, fostering good discussions during council meetings, and ensuring everyone in the community feels heard and valued. With his background in the Ministry of Highways and his current role as an Ag Sales Manager, Kyle brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the Council. He’s also spent many hours volunteering and coaching hockey and football in Lanigan.

Kyle moved to Lanigan in 2003 and quickly became an active member of the community. It’s also where he met his wife, which makes the town even more special to him. He’s been involved with the Lanigan Lions Club, minor hockey, high school football, and the Lanigan Waterpark fundraising project. Kyle is excited about the town's growth, especially the new school, new businesses, and upcoming developments. He loves the friendly people, the great location, and the community’s excitement for the future. His favourite spots in Lanigan include his personal oasis in his yard, the arena, and the football field. In his free time, Kyle enjoys coaching hockey and football, watching his daughter figure skate, and spending time camping, fishing, and hunting.

For Kyle, what makes Lanigan unique is the abundance of job opportunities and recreational activities. He enjoys events like the end-of-the-year hockey family fun tournament and Celebrate Lanigan, which highlight the town’s vibrant spirit. Looking ahead, Kyle sees Lanigan continuing to grow and develop, making it an even better place to live and raise a family. Inspired by the town’s citizens and his fellow council members, Kyle encourages everyone to get involved in the community. He believes that volunteering and participating in local activities are great ways to make a difference and meet new people.

Volunteer as much as possible - it's the little tasks in the community that help out and it’s also a great way to meet new people.

Town council member - James Stephan

James has been a Town Councillor for Lanigan since 2020, focusing on policies that benefit citizens and manage the town's growth sustainably. With over 35 years of experience as a self-employed business owner, James brings a wealth of knowledge to the Council. His background includes running a trucking company, a convenience store, a condo-building business, and owning Hiway Wash & Water. He also served as the foreman for the RM of Prairie Rose and volunteered as a firefighter for 26 years.

Born and raised in Lanigan, James has deep roots in the community. He and his wife, Jackie, who grew up in Lockwood, have three boys, two of whom live in Lanigan. James fondly remembers being part of the family trucking business from an early age, started by his parents in 1956 when they sold their only car to buy a 3-ton truck. He worked in the business from an early age until it was sold in 2001. Now, with three granddaughters, he enjoys the change of pace and loves spending time with his family at the lake.

James loves the sense of community in Lanigan and all the amenities the town offers, like the new school, swimming pool, and healthcare facilities. His favourite place in Lanigan is the rink, where he enjoys watching his kids and grandkids. He is passionate about reopening the hospital and building a community everyone can be proud of (including events like Celebrate Lanigan which show the town's vibrant spirit). Looking ahead, James sees Lanigan growing as a central hub, with a focus on infrastructure upgrades and sustainable development. He encourages anyone considering joining the Council to have an open mind, work as a team, and do what's best for the town.

If you're thinking about joining the Council, come with an open mind and be willing to work as a team. It's rewarding giving something back to the community.

With a background that includes six years at a large city law firm and 23 years in a busy local insurance office, she brings extensive professional experience to her role. She's also an active treasurer and board member for the Lanigan & District Heritage Association, helping to operate the local museum.

Before joining Town Council, Marilyn was deeply involved in the Lanigan community, where she served on the Curling Club executive, Figure Skating Club executive, and spent eighteen years as an EMT/driver with the Lanigan & District Ambulance Association. She remains active in her church, serving on the Church Council and the women's group executive.

Marilyn is inspired by the dedication of the town's staff and encourages others to get involved in community activities. A passionate Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, she held season tickets for 34 years and will always bleed green! As she steps down from her council role, Marilyn is confident in Lanigan's future growth and extends her heartfelt thanks to the citizens for their support throughout her tenure.
