Council Meeting Highlights (October 15, 2024)

The Council of the Town of Lanigan held a regular meeting on October 15, 2024, and following are highlights of the meeting:

  • The regular meetings scheduled for October 28 and November 12, 2024 are cancelled and a regular meeting will be held on November 4, 2024.
  • Concerns were expressed regarding Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) use in town, which is illegal and a nuisance. Administration have been directed to increase public communication about this issue and also contact RCMP for enforcement options.
  • Mayor and Council were provided updates on operational activities from staff, including;
    • Continuation of staff training throughout the organization.
    • Preparations for the upcoming arena season and related scheduling.
    • The swimming pool slide project is well underway with installation of the slide components starting at the end of October.
    • The new school road access(es) are now under construction.
    • 2025 budget preparations are in process with plans to present 2025 budget to the newly elected Council in late November/early December.
    • The water meter replacement project continues with some remaining issues being experienced related to utility billing. Corrections are being made as they are brought to our attention.

A reminder about the upcoming general election on November 13, 2024, and advance poll on November 1, 2024. The election poll and advance poll will be held at the community hall in the recreation complex.
